I see the Yanks are offering Phil Hughes, Ian Kennedy and Melky Cabrera plus another minor leaguer in a deal for Johan Santana...... my advice, take the deal!! This would give the Twins plenty of money to sign Morneau, Mauer and even Nathan to multi year deals. Also, it gives the Twins a promising young staff of Liriano, Baker, Hughes, Slowey, Kennedy heading into their new stadium in 2010. The Rockies are privately shopping G. Atkins and SI (Sports Illustrated) said that the Twins could get him for 2 lower level promising minor league pitchers. This plus the Santana trade would give the Twins a lineup that also would be very promising: 1B - Morneau, 2B - Harris, SS - Casilla, 3B - Atkins, C - Mauer, LF - Young, CF - Cabrera, RF - Cuddyer, DH - Kubel/Monroe. The lineup would be solid from top to bottom and the staff maybe a year away from being VERY good top to bottom.
The Twins would also be very young and for Pohlads sake, CHEAP! The Twins could contend for a while and the new ballpark could be very fun with that talent to help open it up in 2010.
